Farm Maintenance/Mechanic

Job Description :

A Farm Maintenance/Mechanic plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of farm equipment and facilities. This position requires a combination of mechanical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a solid understanding of agricultural machinery. The primary responsibility is to perform maintenance, repairs, and inspections on various farm equipment to maximize efficiency and productivity.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Equipment Maintenance:

    • Conduct routine maintenance on tractors, combines, plows, and other farm machinery.
    • Diagnose and repair mechanical issues to minimize downtime during critical farming seasons.
    • Keep detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts inventory.
  2. Facility Maintenance:

    • Perform regular inspections and maintenance of farm buildings, barns, and other structures.
    • Address issues such as roofing, plumbing, and electrical systems to ensure a safe and functional working environment.
    • Implement preventative measures to avoid breakdowns and prolong the life of infrastructure.
  3. Welding and Fabrication:

    • Utilize welding and fabrication skills to repair or modify equipment as needed.
    • Fabricate parts and structures to enhance the functionality and efficiency of existing machinery.
  4. Troubleshooting:

    • Identify and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems in a timely manner.
    • Work collaboratively with other team members to resolve complex issues and optimize equipment performance.
  5. Safety Compliance:

    • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a secure working environment.
    • Conduct safety inspections on equipment and facilities, addressing any concerns promptly.
  6. Equipment Upgrades:

    • Stay informed about technological advancements in farming equipment.
    • Recommend and implement upgrades to improve the efficiency and sustainability of farm operations.
  7. Training and Documentation:

    • Provide training to farm personnel on basic equipment maintenance and safety procedures.
    • Maintain accurate records of training sessions, equipment manuals, and maintenance schedules.
  8. Communication:

    • Collaborate with farm managers and other departments to coordinate maintenance schedules and prioritize tasks.
    • Communicate effectively with suppliers and vendors to procure necessary parts and supplies.
